England coach Fabio Capello thanked the England fans for not giving John Terry a tough time during the win over Egypt.
It was feared Terry would be jeered every time he touched the ball in the friendly clash at Wembley, but the boos subsided after the early stages.
It was Terry's first game for England since revelations about his private life forced Capello to strip him of the England captaincy.
Capello was pleased with the performance of Terry and insisted the Chelsea ace remains a key player ahead of the World Cup in South Africa.
"I really thank the crowd for supporting him," said Capello.
"It was a very important game for him after what happened to him off the pitch and he had a fantastic game.
"He is very important to us but I knew that when I made him captain in the first place."
