OSTRAVA-BOLESLAV REFEREEING CONTROVERSY
REFS COMMISSION CHAIRMAN ADMITS ERRORS
The CMFS (Czech football association) Referees & Delegates Commission will meet on Thursday to discuss the error-ridden performances of Jaroslav Jara and his assistants in last night?s Banik Ostrava-Mlada Boleslav game.

Jara wrongly sent off Mlada Boleslav forward Tomas Sedlacek, supposedly after he?d picked up his second yellow card of the game.

Replays of the earlier booking, however, showed Jara cautioning team-mate Petr Vorisek rather than Sedlacek.

Among the other contentious decisions were Jara?s refusal to award a penalty when Ostrava defender Petr Ciganek appeared to handle the ball in the area, and the ruling out of a goal by Boleslav forward Jan Kysela on a controversial offside decision.

Ludek Macela, the refereeing commission?s chairman, acknowledged today that Sedlacek?s sending-off was a serious error on Jara?s part.

?It is, of course, an unacceptable situation, of a sort I?ve never come across before,? he told the CTK news agency. ?Jara acknowledged that he?d made a stupid mistake after the game and included the [Mlada Boleslav] captain?s protest in his report.?

But while Macela said that the criticism of Jara was understandable, he objected strongly to Boleslav coach Zdenek Scasny?s post-match outburst, in which he described Macela as ?utterly incompetent? [see below].

DISCIPLINARY COMMISSION MEETS TOMORROW
Mlada Boleslav coach Zdenek Scasny and his assistant Petr Cuhel will learn tomorrow whether they face further punishment following Sunday?s controversial league game in Ostrava.

During a match marred by serious refereeing errors, both Scasny and Cuhel were sent to the stands for dissent, while Scasny?s post-match outburst has already led to a 50,000-crown fine from the CMFS (Czech football association) Professional Football Department.

The CMFS Disciplinary Commission will decide tomorrow whether further sanctions are required.

Separately, head referee Jaroslav Jara and fourth official Michal Patak have been called before the CMFS Referees & Delegates Commission.

In the match?s most serious error, Jara wrongly sent off Mlada Boleslav forward Tomas Sedlacek, under the mistaken belief that he?d picked up two yellow cards rather than one.

En football, la 11e journée de la Gambrinus Liga, le championnat de République tchèque, se disputait ce week-end. Devant son public, le Sparta Prague, avec le Français Ludovic Sylvestre titulaire en première mi-temps, a disposé de Kladno (4-1). Une victoire qui permet au champion en titre d'oublier quelque peu la triste défaite (1-2) concédée contre le FC Zurich, jeudi dernier, pour son premier match de groupe en coupe de l'UEFA. Grâce à cette victoire toutefois guère rassurante sur le plan du jeu, le Sparta reste à cinq points du leader, le Slavia Prague, qui possède cependant un match en moins.
Toujours dans le haut du tableau, le FK Teplice a conservé sa deuxième place grâce à sa victoire (4-1) obtenue à domicile aux dépens du club pragois de Viktoria Zizkov. Teplice se rapproche ainsi à deux points du Slavia. L'affiche de la journée mettait aux prises le Banik Ostrava, troisième au classement, à Mlada Boleslav, troisième des clubs tchèques encore en course en coupes d'Europe. Un match qui a tenu toutes ses promesses puisque six buts ont été inscrits pour un score final de 3-3. A noter que le Français Noël Alexandre Mendy a disputé l'intégralité de la rencontre à la pointe de l'attaque de Mlada Boleslav, qui recevra le Villareal de Robert Pires la semaine prochaine pour son premier match de groupe en coupe de l'UEFA.

REF JARA BANNED UNTIL YEAR?S END
The CMFS (Czech football association) Referees & Delegates Commission has banned Jaroslav Jara from refereeing a game until the end of the year over the serious mistake he made in October 28th Ostrava-Mlada Boleslav league game.

During a hugely controversial game, Jara wrongly sent off Mlada Boleslav forward Tomas Sedlacek under the mistaken belief that he?d picked up two yellow cards rather than one.

But the commission judged Jara had been right not to award Boleslav a penalty when Ostrava defender Petr Ciganek appeared to handle the ball in the area.

Jara was also cleared of any blame for another controversial decision, in which a goal by Boleslav forward Jan Kysela was wrongly ruled offside.

In this case, the commission held Jara?s assistant Ondrej Pelikan responsible for the error; Pelikan has been limited to fourth-official duties for two games.

Separately, the CMFS Disciplinary Commission fined Mlada Boleslav coach Zdenek Scasny 100,000 crowns after he was sent to the stands during the same game; Scasny?s assistant, Petr Cuhel, was fined 20,000 crowns.
